one needed repaired, someone before me installed a wideband bung in header and it was ugly

People don't seem to get the "we're not interested" response. If a shop or company tells you a crazy price or lead time and you are surprised by it, consider it a request to go away. Why beg?

Pretty much, we do the same thing. Don't really want to do it so here is a crazy price, if you pay that then we will take it on.
