I thought this was going to be a blast session on ole' Mr Rodgers, glad to see it is not. He was a preacher and was said to be a very great man. I watched him a little as a kid....we all have to go at some point.
The stomach cancer was as a result of many years of heavy drinking and a vicious heroin addiction that left him bankrupt at about 65 years of age......no no....KIDDING....just kidding......calm down, just teasing......HeHeHe....sorry, I act like an 8 year old sometimes......
Sorry Mr. R, just giving you a little flaterry like 'Foul said......RIP big guy......Allan

Mr. Rogers,Mr. Dressup,The Friendly Giant, are probably hanging together in the neighbourhood right now. Three great "friends" of children everywhere. Its too bad that todays kids get pokeman, mutant this and that, battle everything and will not ever know the comfort that these guys gave to the kids of a simpler generation.
Put on you loafers and cardigan Fred, kick back and relax, you did a great job.

He probably didn't die in the usual sense, rather, he got on the trolley and simply went to "Someplace else". When my boys were younger they watched him, and I would think about some of the characters and their interaction. For instance King Friday was a puppet...but he had a full size human daughter..... I often wondered what impression that made on a child

Can anyone remember the radio comedy skit (can't remember who did it - Cheech & Chong maybe?), where Mr. Rogers was interviewing a blues musician on his show? Pretty funny -
Mr. Rogers: "Can you say, 'Egg McMuffin'?"
Blues Musician Dude: "Eggamuffin'"
Mr. Rogers: "I think it's time to go to the 'magic kingdom'."
Blues Musician Dude: "Nah, man, it's too early for me!"
