That's the question, isn't it? I'm curious as well; a lot of the boats I've been looking at have TRS drives, and I'm wondering if the Pulse Drive is a viable alternative somewhere down the road....

The pulse drives are reasonable, about the cost of two bravos and external steering. I think mongo spent 30Kincluding trannys and labor. $$$ depends on HP. OSO members get a discount, they want our business.
The only downside is dial-in(prop) time could be longer because not every boat has been fitted with surface piercing pulse yet.
Call Tony or Tim at Pulse they are great to work with.

If I break one more XR I'll be looking at the Pulse Drive as a replacement too. I have a 386 Sonic with a built in swim platform. I have heard that they have a hard time fitting the Pulse Drive to that type of transom.

Quiet Storm.
What engines do you have? How many hours do the XR's last.

What do you mean IF you break another drive, don't you mean when?

salesmanship

The drives have about 100 hours on them. The port side broke last month and the starboard side just broke Saturday. The motors are 575 SCi's.

Byron

I'm hoping I just had a bad set of gears. The only reason I'm not foaming at the mouth is the extended warranties are covering the repair cost.

Thanks Byron
It seems that 575's and XR's on boats 38 and over are bad news.
Just curious. I'm hearing stories about all types of brands.
