Just curious why you don't want Merc? You could be just about anywhere in the world if something went wrong, you could have it covered under warranty. Try that with an independant builder.

Chris, do you know if Innovation does performance rebuilds on stock Merc motors?

Chiefs!

I had 650's in the Cafe. Only problem I ever had was with one of the Holley carburetors and I was always pushing the sticks through the dash.

P.S Tommy H. was always very helpful (although I only called him for info.)

I THOUGHT DOUG LEWIS BUILT THESE "PRO 1"

I know that Innovation does hipo rebuilds. But I would do a 39 epoxy with a pair of merc.900s on #6 that should be good a high teen to 120 mph boat if I had the cash.

You're right about "On The Prowl". The Sterlings went into something else, and I can't remember what the name of the boat is. Still - it's pretty hard to go wrong with D'Annaballe's work. I believe that they have set up agreements with other shops in various parts of the country to look after their stuff, though.

Innovation is a good suggestion - I've got a pair of their 600's and love them.

If you want to stay away from the weight, cost and drag of #VI's, take a good look at the various drives from IMCO...

I thought the 6 drives had the least drag other than surface drives, no gear case to drag through the water, and atleast on the OL's the X is high as hell.

Whoa!!!!!!

Those engines were built by Doug Lewis/Professional Marine in New Jersey...not Sterling....They were dyno'd at Sterling and the resulting engines led to mutual development changes for Doug and Mike D...... The engines put out 1008 hp each....non supercharged. EFI was calibrated by Doug...torque is off the scale too.

I've driven the boat....it idles better than any performance boat I've been in...and goes like hades!
