Kid turbo, it was called OPT back them and we still had APBA, the good old days LOL.
I don't know about "rub rails" dipping in turns, I ran the "winged" boats, I can tell you in the rough the wing tips dipped in the water, if it was real rough you took the wing off so it didn't burry itself BUT that was from chine walking and runnig beam seas. Back then the races were longer 150 miles and the turn in the harbor was the tightest turn you would ever have of any race course anywhere until the OPT came up with oval racing. No offense to you, I admire what you are doing, looking at you Dmax is scary becuase it looks like how we started in the early 80's now almost 30 years ago! Making BIG power in a diesel is no secret, just like a gas engine, no a big problem the same rules apply. I sent you my cell number, just call me tomorrow I'll talk your ear off, I see a few things in the pic i can help you with, it's my pleasure to share my failures so you don't make them yourself :eekdrop: |

No, but if I were behind you, I could smell the diesel for 7 or 8 miles. No offence I just think they belong in trucks and busses. The new whackers are great, and don't smoke, too many $$ to put in an old boat.

Just like fine wine & cigars it's an acquired taste or smell as you pointed out, reserved for only a handful of us, us, us - don't know what you call people like us? :lolhit:

I never cared much for the smell of diesel fuel either, so I've stopped using it. Now I only burn beans, and sometimes a little corn... If while out boating you suddenly smell french fries cooking and find yourself getting hungry, I'm definitely in front of you... :lolhit: Thanks again for the input Joe. Nice to meet someone with a history of making diesel boats into Go Fast boats. -K |

I'd love to see a pic of those triple Powerstrokes.
The weight of the full cast iron diesel options is probably enough to frighten off many builders. 38' at 22k lbs sounds more like a large cabin cruiser than sport boat. -K The Magnum Marine 35/38 has a 12ft beam and is built like a brick house and still runs good numbers despit its sheer bulk. Here is what one looks like http://www.boat-inventory.com/photo/...ressdiesel.jpg |
