I HAVE JUST MADE RESERVATIONS AT MOUNTAIN STAR FOR FRIDAY NIGHT AND ALREADY HAVE RESERVATIONS FOR SATURDAY AT LAKEWAY. IT IS AN 18 HOUR DRIVE BACK PLANNED FOR SUNDAY. I AM PICKING THE BOAT UP THURSDAY MORNING IN DALLAS AND PLAN ON TESTING IT SOMEWHERE LOCAL TO THERE. IS THERE A GOOD LAKE FOR THAT IN DALLAS OR ON THE WAY TO AUSTIN FROM THERE?

Probably the easiest lake will be Lake Lewisville located on I35 on the outskirts north of Dallas. You can put in at Eagle Point Marina located off of I35 or Pier 121 Marina located off of Hwy 121.

How is the lake when it is windy? Do the cliffs block most of the wind? I think it is supposed to be windy this weekend.

The wind is usually from the south. So, the only rough stop is the first five miles from the dam. After that, the clifts block most of it.

The rough spots are caused by high boat traffic. Unfortunately, the busiest stop on the lake is the 1/2 mile between Carlos'N Charlies and Devil's Cove. It can get wicked in the afternoon.

That lake can't be rough compared to The "Washing Machine" known as Lake Conroe

Rough????

I didn't know either lake had 7+ footers? haha.:D :D :D

robyw1 04-14-2004 08:57 AM

You mean the Bay has 7 footers? I didn't think it was possible for waves to be larger than the water is deep :D:D

Just head towards one of the moving ships in the ship channel, they can throw some pretty big swells. :D

Guys - I was ripping robyw1 saying that he calls those little 2-3 footers on the lake, "Big!"
