So what have we decided so far?
Arnesons, Konrads or 4300 Nor-Tech w/ trip 525s?

Konrad's or 3A's. IMO, the Arnesons will hurt resale even though they are great drives. Not enough people familiar with (properly) running them either.

What's the price range between the Konrads, 3As and Arnesons? Plus with the 3s you have to move the motors forward.

Not sure on the costs of the 3 different drives for your application Bob, but boardmember here 'Biggus' put Konrads and his T750 traditional bottom Top Gun recently, so you might want to PM him, he seems VERY happy with them.

The Konrad 540 is the real deal guys.

How would you like to FORGET about drive failure altogether.

We logged just over 100 hard hrs on them so far this season and I was not able to break them behind 700hp blower motors in our 12,000 lb '89 Top Gun.

If I was in the position to order a new Cigarette today I would make sure it was rigged with Konrad drives. I know I can't afford Speedmaster 6's and I sure as hell can't afford to blow several XR drives per season.

The Konrad drive fills a HUGE hole in the marketplace. Right between the XR and the mighty 6.

RJ1340,
You will have to move the engines foward for the Arneson drive also. With the horsepower you will need the #8's to be sure of no problems.

The Konrad 540 including the very stout transom assembly retails for about 12k I'm running Huber 925's not sure what you would pay new. Does $2500 sound right?

Not bad when you consider the other alternatives. Go with XR's and have to *****-foot around for fear of not making it home? AND the cost of replacing several a season if you like your throttles!

Sixes are without question the ultimate but they are @50k including transom assy.

I believe a new 3A is 36k including transom assembly.

So for someone running 650-800 hp the Konrad is literally a steal for 12k You have the reliability of the Six, and a cost of just a couple grand more than a prone to failure XR.
