I used to think fram was good untill I started seeing problems with them ... Now I use Wix, or the good Napa filters .

Tommy from CHIEF ENGINES supplies his engines with a K&N filter on them, then I use a NAPA racing filter 'cause they are easy to get. One thing on the K&N filter, it has a cool nut faxsimily welded on the back so you can take them off with a wrench.

Re: personal opinions on oil filters???
For whats it's worth I use over 150,000 oil filters a year, my failure rate on Fram's is virturally non existant. After installing over 2,300,000 filters I have never had one "burst". There have been a handful of seam seeps, fouled threads and bad gaskets over the last 20 years but as a percentage it wouldn't show up on any calculator. I've also cut many filters open ( yes I own an official Fram filter cutter ) without ever seeing any unusual media shift problems. The bottom line is I pay additional $ to use Fram over other brands and at these numbers it's real money. The fact of the matter is that all of the filters mentioned above will be fine, boat engines are actually very easy on filters, a much larger issue is oil contamination from fuel and water. The only time filters start really gathering up the ugly stuff is when something's already going away, like that wonderful feeling when you hear a noise so ya check the Obergs and the screens are full of shinny stuff, who cares where it's coming from it's all gotta come apart anyway
