never been on a 42 Fountain but was out on a 38 Hustler with HP500 carb .........ran 80 all day and rode like a Cadillac.....real nice.......but two other things stood out that Im surprised nobody has brought up........#1 - the windblast on that thing was INSANE!!!!!........Zero wind protection......Id seen the boat at the dock before and wondered why he had goggles hanging all over the thing......now I know why......that would HAVE to be addressed...........forget a long distace cruise.....#2 Couple the wind noise with the annoying "scratchy mechanical thrash" noise (not a V8 throb) from the engines coming out of the forward facing air inlet scoops on the sunpad and after a half an hour I wanted to get out..........too bad......otherwise nice........doug

I assume the Slingshot with the windblast did not have the optional Plexiglass windscreen??? Just curious.

windshield... all i hear is the sound of blowers

it had about a 3" high windshield......I dont know if thats stock

i also like the dash better... cant understand the placement of the gauges on the fountain. i guess you get used to it.

My hustler does not have the windshield and it does get a little tyring with the wind constantly in your face but I dont mind too much.
Even with the wind noise I can really hear the whine of the whipples!!!!!!
