I got something rigged up...a full test will determine if it will work ok. I have the following: Clevis pin with a washer, a spring, and then a washer. The clevis pin is then inserted into the hatch bracket and actuator. This causes the spring to be compressed between the two washers. Then a hinge clip is inserted into the holes in the clevis pin.

To release the hatch, a cord/wire tied to the hinge clip is pulled so the clip comes out of the clevis pin. The spring then ejects the clevis pin from the bracket and you can lift open the hatch.

Wish I could come up with something like this in case of a lift failure. When mine is close, the ram pulls the hatch down a bit, so it is under a lot of pressure still. Not sure if I could pull a pin out with the ram pulling the hatch down. Best setup is the rams that have the tube that will allow the hatch to be opened several inches. Maybe some kind of retro is in order to work for the non tube type rams.

Yes, my hinges are external and I remove the hinge bolt with a socket/wrench.
