The timing light just proved my 1989 330hp 454 with Thunderbolt IV (4) ignition is not advancing as the rpm's go up.
From what I've learned so far, my options are:
1) buy a new advance module - $320 from local dealer, week to get
2) hope to find a used module on ebay - $??? available ???
3) buy whole new system through Summitt - ~$250
4) hope my hotboat buddies can come through for me with a better option that the ones above!
So, am I right in thinking it's the advance module that has gone south? I've triple check all the wiring vs the manual and everything there is good. I have no idea how old the module is.
Advice, thoughts, opinions?

I put an MSD in mine. Its easier to get parts for amd does just as good a job as thunderbolt. I put mine in 6 years ago and am very satisfied. I put in a billet distributor, msd box, blaster coil.

Just replace the module. The Tbolt are pretty reliable. Parts availability shouldn't be a problem.
BTW, Doller can probably get you one cheaper and faster than your dealer.
And you might want to check on that Summit price. You'll need a MSD marine distributor AND and MSD box if you change over.

I just bought a new module off of ebay for $125. That's much cheaper than a complete system and much cheaper than the $337 the local dealer wanted to charge.
I hope it make it here for the weekend!!!
