Thanks, that is good to hear since i have run two seasons on it.

Yes But the point is the series 2000 20w-50 is no longer available, so all that info is for naught. I haven't bought my oil for this season yet and would love to know the make up of this 15w-50 Dominator, but can't get a straight answer from amsoil, I don't mind changing more frequently, just not every weekend. Amsoil does still sell the "Standard 20w-50" but its designation is not "series2000 Racing oil". It figures that when you get something that is relatively reliable they go and change things around!!!!.................................robertj r

All you need to do is send a small sample of virgin 15w-50 Dominator and ~$25 to an oil test lab (one is http://www.blackstone-labs.com/free_test_kit.html) for an oil analysis. If you post the results here you will get additional comment from the various OSO people with expertise in oils. Just a thought.

Not knowing a thing about this particular oil, 15w50 Dominator, let me go out on limb and say it will work fine for your typical drain interval of 25 hours and when it is analysed at the end of 25 hours, the add pack will still be good.

i shot an email off to Amsoil about the new series oil, but it must have gone into a black hole, havn't heard back from them...............

Speak of the devil. They just got back to me. This is the response i got. "Ryan,

Most racing engine oils including our own do have reduced amounts of additives. Racing Dominator lubricants are not designed to be used for any long period of time, which is the reason for having reduced detergents, etc. The RD series lubricants should work great in your marine application, but as with any racing recommendation, the only way to truly know what is happening inside your engine would be Oil Analysis. If you have any other questions please feel free to email us further."

Seems like a pretty vague response. First they say no prolonged use, then it's good for the marine environment. So not sure of the duration of using this oil between changes. Anyone have anything i should ask them?

I think what they are saying is that it is not designed for LONG PERIOD OF TIME but depending on how hard and how much you run it , by using incremental oil analysis's you can determine the appropriate change interval for your/each boat individually.

I ran an entire season of the AMSOIL series 2000 20w-50, 52 hours. I did an oil analysis after the season, and the oil was actually still good to use, however, I did change it anyways, I just like changing everything once a season. I have twin 496ho's, with Bravo X drives. Everything ran great!

The new 15w-50 Dominator, has replaced and been upgraded from the "Series 2000 Racing Oil". Things change over time, and it looks like AMSOIL is up on their information and technology.
