Default Tabs leaking water in bilge

I have a 1988 boat. It has never been in the water for more than a weekend. The tab on the port side was dripping water into the bilge through the mounting bolts. I tightened them up and clear water sqeezed out of the bolt holes. Transom did not feel spongy at all. Should I worry??

Yes! Take them off and make sure the holes are dry If water "squeezed" out you know the answer. If you are lucky and the transom holes are dry re-install the bolts with lots of 3M 4200.

Best of Luck
