What do you think about welding on an extension to the existing K-Planes to extend to 30" length instead of replaceing the tabs??

Poorsche -

I found a set of used 380's on the board last year for a reasonable price and switched out the 280's on my 98 Fountain 29 Fever that I recently sold. I found the 380's helped in planing as well as running in the rough stuff. Simple to switch. Check with Intense Marine in S. Florida - I believe they had a few used sets laying around...

I've hear a few times that it's a tuff job to remove the pines that hold the plane on the transom mount. How bad is it really and what are the secrets?
