If you go with the Gil style offshore mount how do you shim for alignment?

Dave,
JMK had a solid engine mount installed in his boat this past winter after experiencing problems with the stock Merc stuff.
I installed a solid mount the winter before.
24' Superboats have vary narrow inner stringers so you have to be careful what you purchase.

I went a different route than mentioned in these post. I put in the dana solid mounts that replace the stock rubber mounts, they are obviously not true offshore mounts though but better than stock ones.I also had tiny aluminum l angles that I replaced with giant L angles (running paralell to the stringers). Ive ran 2 seasons with 750 hp and 1 season with 950hp with no problems yet,Smitty

Those would be the ones! My boat (2000 baja) had tiny little aluminum L angles(probably 3-4 inches long 1/4 inch thick, and 2-3 inches deep). I replaced them with 1/2 inch thick 3" by 5" by 1 foot long aluminum angles with some extra bolts thru the stringer too,Smitty

I was looking at those. Do they use the locking tabs from the stock mounts? How do the stay locked in position? Here's a pic of what I have to secure them too.

I have bought a Formula 292 Fastech without engines installed, but I got 2 new blue Scorpion engines in crates that I am going to install. The mounts are from Gil and I guess you would call them "solid mounts", but how do I align the new engines using these Gil mounts ? Can I simply loosen the bolts, adjust and tigthen ? Or are shims required for alignment ?
Thanks.
