500 EFI ECU Alarm
I am having a alarm beeping about 10 seconds after the engine is started. I believe it is the ECU alarm as it is beeping and not a constant long tone. There are two circuits on the 500EFI one general alarm for the drive bottle, water temp and oil pressure and the one for the ECU.
I just want to make sure if this is correct, beeping is from ECU and continuous is from the general circuit.
I am going to the boat this weekend and I have a scan tool and just wanted to verify. Also if it is a ECU alarm what typically will set this off after 10 seconds of running? EFI problems or what?
Last time it happend I kept shuttung off the motor and after about 10 restarts it quit. Then after a 1/2 hour run the next time I started it (warm) it alarmed again.
Any input would be great. I am hoping the scan tool will show the fault(s).
Thanks

Yes, the scan tool will tell you.
I just had a beep every three seconds on my port engine and got a code 23 and a code 34.
We replaced the air intake temp sensor and the map air sensor and all is fine.
The scan tool made life easy.
Good luck

Rinda technology make a dedicated merc scantool or you could spring a few more bucks and get their Diacomm software to turn your laptop into a great scan tool. Rinda.com.
