Velocity prop adivice
Took out my 2005 Velocity 260 today for the first time. 570 Tyler Crockett horsepower. Tried a 30 pitch Bravo 1. Ran 73mph GPS @ 4200 rpm. Then tried the prop that came with the boat from Velocity in stock 496 form(375 hp). Its a worked 27pitch Bravo 1, looks like the blades are narrower and no cup. Ran 74mph GPS and was hard into the rev limiter @5600. Water was terrible with a strong side wind so I couldn't stay in it. I know the set up isn' correct yet. Going to try a 28 Bravo 1 next. I've read every post on this site on Velocities and some say the Hydomotive runs faster , but the Bravo 1 is a better overall prop. Who has run a simmilar set up and what worked best for you? Also have read that this boat runs fastest running flat. Does that mean running tabs in the neutral position and the drive in the level position and not trimming up? My previous boat required lots of trim to get it to go. Seems odd not to trim it up?
Thanks,
Steve

I have a 1998 260 which is a 280 today. I run a Prochrged modified 454. I am also torn on props. I can spin a 32 bravo at 5200 but prefer my 30 lab finished. I will change to 1.36 this week and think it will be a big help. I run the 32 at 5200 RPM I can run the 30 At 6000 all day. At 5600 RPM with the 30 I run 88.6 on GPS. I would play around a little more before giving up. I think with the 1.36 putting the motor more in the sweet spot RPM wise I'll crack 90 on GPS.
Just my two cents.

RBeyer, I think most of us Velocity owners would agree, that you will not like the 1:36 gears. The boat works much better with the 1:50. It feels sluggish with the 1:36 and there is usually no gain in mph even with smaller props.
For the best advice, call Steve at Velocity @ 407-321-1340 or ask for Kenny

I had a 96 for many years & my cousin currently ownes Dean Ferry's old boat that has an HP500 & he turns a 28 Bravo 1 labbed @ around 5300 runs 76-77 all day long. Something's not adding up with your set up. I've always had good luck with the bravo 1 prop on this hull.

I've got a VR-1 (290) and run a labbed 27 hydro clever with a little over 550hp at 5500 for 82 mph on gps.
Have tried labbed 28 bravo, labbed 30 bravo, non-labbed 27 round-ear hydro, but nothing else compares both on top end and cruise.

What a difference a prop makes. Borrowed a beat up 28 Bravo 1 from a friend and in some sloppy water with 3/4 tank of gas ran 81.6 GPS. With good water and less gas and a dialed in prop should run 85. Going to sleep better tonight!

BTW, That was at 5200 rpm's. Still have 400 R's to go to hit my 5600 rev limiter. Should run good once I get her dialed in.
