Guys thanks for all the good info.rmbuilder the motors have already been broke in and was planing to put back in the boat.
what do you think the h.p difference would be between the two cams and would it be worth taking the motors back apart .also what cam would you use in this application

Your mechanical parameters are very similar to the Merc 540 Bulldog engine, with the exception of your displacing approx +8 CID and (.4) point compression ratio. Cams are both flat tappet rated @

Hyd-Intensity..60/60……….65/66
Given the intake and cam selection 520-540 HP peak is about what can be expected, depending upon the variables.
With a properly sized roller cam, single plane intake, and some cleanup on the cylinder heads you will cross 600 HP, by how much, again dependant upon the variables.
