Default MSD ready-to-run Distributor pn 8360

Has anybody used one if so how does it work? It seems very simple no box needed.

It is what I am using. No complaints so far.

You will want to experiment with the timing curves, changing the springs in it is simple, but the stop bushing is a little of a pain.

I have only had mine this season, so I do not have a long term report.

Another one you may want to consider is the D.U.I. Marine HEI. its a few $ more (I think like $30 or so) but has the advantage of intergal coil, easily obtainable parts, and from what I hear a better reliability record than MSD stuff.

I am running a 388 SBC w/10.5:1 compression, Dart heads, guessing around 400 ponies. (a very similar street build (same cam, but with less compression and not as good of heads, but w/headers made 450 horse on dyno)

It is in a 24' Four Winns Liberator. Heavy and inefficient hull.

8360 is just the std ready to run automotive distributor. It will not take the marine enviroment for long. I have a customer that has 20 hours on his brand new 8360's and both are so corroded that they are going to have to be replaced. Needless to say he learned a $600 lesson. I would buy a marine specific distributor.

Oops, I am running the marine RTR version. Methinks it is 8366.

I'm using 83606 on my HP 500 with a Blaster coil. No issues.

I put one in my 400 SBC powered fishin' boat and had the module fail leaving me stranded. The module is under the breaker plate and is not field serviceable. I bought a non-rtr dist. and 6m2 box to replace it and carry the rtr as a spare.
