water pump puley locked up
Yesterday after running hard for awhile I turned off my motor for a couple of minutes while talking to someone. When I started my engine the pulley was not turning on the sea pump. The belt was tight and the pulley was locked up. I turned it off Nad on three times and than it started turning and worked fine after that. Any ideas?

Re: water pump puley locked up
Sometimes when shutting a motor off it will spin backwards for a second, call it dieseling or run on if you will. This will cause the impeller to flip the vanes backwards. It will do exactly what you are saying. It has happened to me more than once. Just had to reach down and turn it by hand and then it was fine. I have also had this happen on brand new ones so I knew I didn't lock a pump up.

Re: water pump puley locked up
The pump bearings are probably shot. If you have a mechanical fuel pump your water pump has a fill and check spot on the water pump body. If you have an electrical fuel pump you only have what grease the assembler put on the water pump bearings. Not much.
