Default Bravo 1 to X or XR

Can a Bravo 1 be swapped out for a Bravo X or Bravo XR without changing the transom mounting?

Do all three have the same X-dimensions?

Michael

The X-dimentions might be the same but the assemblies are different .. a Bravo I will work on a HP but the XR drive will not work on a Standard BI assembly .. I think ...

I know that the HP's dont have the provisons for Senders (who cares) ....

As I understand it.......An XR will go into a regular Bravo transom, the XR will not but only because the bearing needs to be changed to the XR version.

The transom assembly will work. You have to change a couple things. I think merc makes a kit for it.

The drives when installed will give the same propshaft depth.

You will need to change the gimbal bearing and the aliminium sleeve. Did it last winter changed from Bravo 1 ('87) to a Bravo X ('01)

Yes, you can bolt a HP drive to a standard transom assembly as stated above. There is a kit from Merc to do just that. New bearing, sleeve, and spacers for the pistons as to not over trim the bigger U-joints.
