My Latham Marine pick up has a screen with like 1/8 inch holes. Prevents anything big from getting in.

You'd have less derag with properly mounted transom pick-ups.

The Lathams are available with screens.

Always check the old style pickups due to this issue. And they were bonded!

I have Latham's for the transome and I have through hulls if ya like them. I repolished them too.

My $0.02
The transom mounted pickups might be faster. But on a heavy scarab, you'll never notice.
The transom mounted ones might stay in the water more. But again, on that boat, you'll never notice.
If it was a 100mph cat, then I would change it. But if your current one is in good condition, convenient location, and dosn't cause problems, I dont think it's worth the effort to glass up your hull and put in the new one.
BTW, is that a 377 raised deck scarab with staggered motors?

I would agree with this, even though I have some cool parts that would work on it.
