The pick up hole is clogged on the drive. Happens all the time. The pickup hole is a little notch on the leading edge of the lower unit, about halfway between the cav plate and bullet. Just take a very small drill bit and twist it into the hole with your fingers to get the debris out.

The red arrow is the speedo pickup location. They usually get plugged with a peice of wood.

A problem I had with mine (Bravo I) is there is a small rubber hose in the drive that had blown apart. I had the boat pulled and was having a drive serivce/alignment done when they checked the hose. The tube from the speedo to the drive was fine and so was the pick-up but it was the small hose with the bend in it in the drive.
