has anyone tried oxyclean ( the power of oxygen !!)

I wonder if this would break down the organisms that make the stain, but not harm the gel?

any concern with trying it?
It's used on clothes and things so should be safe?

We need "Billy Mayes here" to do a demo infomercial with a boat

The acid based products don't etch gel coat any more than they etch the plastic bottle they come in. They eat the stain that gets into the pores of the gel coat.

Anyone know why we don't use epoxy on the bottom of boats instead of the polyester based gel coat? Would sure hold up a whole lot better

Any word on whether they resist stains or hold up better to repeated cleaning with harsh chemicals?

I'm thinking of doing some work on my bottom this winter. Going to use epoxy for the layup. Even West Systems seems to recommend polyester gel coat over the epoxy and I can't understand why? Epoxy is MUCH more water and chemical resistant.
