With an engine recirc pump, the holes shouldn't be needed.

Did you fix the problem? If so, what was the issue.

I replaced the 140 thermostat with another 140 thermostat....
back flushed the oil cooler. cloudy water came out but no chunks

ran the next day to 4000 rpm. ( with the family)
port 155 deg, starbaor 160. I think I am jsut fine
just was not sure where these settle to....

I think they are ok

scott

we could swape the gages, and/or senders to see if it is the sendors or the actual water temp that is different

but I am less worridd myself now seeing only a 5 degree difference

on injected motors with a typical recirc water pump, with a standard tstat ( no holes or other voodoo) the water temps should be above 160 or you are telling the injection to be over rich... not smart.

not smart on carb motors either but not essential like it is with injection. a good injected , normally aspirated motor will run for 200 years at 170 deg... where it should be anyway.

N/A motors yes, however we are talking about small (177) blower motors.
