AFR heads and a camshaft from Rmbuilder.:drink:

I agree AFR heads are a great poduct and should make over 600 easy.

Well i guess its unanimous AFR is the winner so now i guess what would be the best candidate for my motor i will be doing heads and cam and carb. I plan on starting my project at the end of the season. Once again thanks to all that have chimed in.

Now its time to fire up the merc and meet my buddies out on the lake. Hope everybody has a safe sober day boating well sober if driving thanks jer

Search for RMBuilder for his user profile. I don't have his number handy.

$ depends on what you are starting with. Completely stock carb 500 hp's, Anodized AFR heads with ss intake valves, inconel exh valves, springs, etc./camshafts/lifters, I changed carbs another guy did not, he worked the stock merc blue carbs. I put crane ignitions on to be able to raise the rev limiters, used same Gil exhaust. Peak hp 595 at 5500 rpm. Peak torque at 615 lbft at 4200 rpm. I left some hp on the table to keep rpms down to 5500. Other folks run up to 5800-6000 rpm with more hp.

None of the parts from the stock 500 hp heads were used for the afrs so it does get expensive.

I rebuilt both motors and replaced the intakes (corrosion issue) also did a bunch of other work so I spent a bunch but the boat is a beast now.

Sounds like a beast so what kinda cash we talking? I will not cut no corners want it done right and left with the option for a blower to be added.

So how much are we talking? to take me all the way.

Get an alignment tool and make sure the engine / drive is not in a bind. Blueprint the bottom also. Cheap stuff for speed.
