if you are putting the 500 in your gonna need a 4 blade...
i say a bravo 24,26 pitch or maybe try a hydromotive prop.

My rough costs:

Anodized AFR Heads ss intake, inconel exh, titanium retainers, springs, cups, head studs $3,000/set (I bought the bare 305cc AFRs with the CNC chamber, RMBuilder selected the components.)

Custom cam $450 per side (RM Builder)

Morel Lifters $450 (RM Builder)

Intake pushrods ~$100

HI6M Ignition $250 plus $75 for wire/mounts etc each side

Edelbrock Victor Jr. Intake $220 plus $75 for powdercoat

Carb $900 each

1" spacer ($20 each)

Gaskets, RTV, Shop supplies, Beer $500 per motor

Dyno $300 cash (2 sessions) so $600

Freshen motor (clean, hone, inspect block, polish crank, Make rod ends round, rings, bearings, assemble heads and short block $1,000 per at a machine shop)

Closed loop cooling for aluminum heads ($1100 per)

I pulled the motors, assembled the long block, took to dyno twice, did the tech work at the dyno, installed in boat, etc.

I did not have to modify my stock 500 HP fuel system.

Like I said, not cheap and I did all the grunt work. Hope this helps.

Oh, BTW I changed bolts to stainless where it made sense, ARP intake, exhaust, some of the bell housing, some of the motor mount, all bracket bolts, oil pan bolts. Probably $200/motor.

I also did not have to modify the oil cooler or lines.

Fuel and oil system add another $1000 per.

Don't underestimate how expensive these projects can be, there are a LOT of hidden costs in a project like this.

Hey thunderstruck thanks for the list that helps out. Now that i can see some numbers i no what i am getting into. See i am trying to decide if i wanna do a blower or motor work?

It looks to be relatively close in price maybe a little more for the heads and cam. But if the gains are close to the same i will just do the motor work. and keep reliability.

Does any one have any input i on blower or do the heads and cam?

Once again thanks to every one for chiming in you guys here at offshore have been a huge help. Jeramy

Where are you guys finding the AFR heads that are anodized?

And would you still need the closed cooling since they are anodized?

TP Marine, AFR anodized heads, use to be 10% discount for OSS members. Might want to call. RM Builder is also an AFR dealer and can get the same.
