My statement to Whipple was that 400 extra HP on my hull should pick up attleast 10-20 mph and that is coming from Peter himself.
I just have a hard time fixing something that dont break.Dustin is a great guy to deal with Im just trying to get the best bang for my money,no more no less.

Keith, Pyburn had an issue at DS because of my oversight. Here it is, since some are questioning about blower reliability, since these are the only ones that any problems, we went with a different rear shaft design, with this, we overlooked the fact that we needed to reinforce it with a bolt to secure the shaft to the SC. All the other SC's have this, but the few prototypes on Bills boat did not, and at higher rpm, it snapped one of the rear shafts off. Since, we drilled, tapped and made custom bolts to go back there and instantly, they were fine. It's that simple. This shaft was different than all the other 305's. Pyburns run just fine now. All others have run just fine!

Dustin

Big differance in 200HP gain and 85Hp gain
Dustin claimed 200 over a 1471 with 2.5 less boost.

As I've said before, every motor combo is different. I'm not claiming anything, I'm telling you what was found. I will guarantee you this, the screw blowers are hands down better than any roots, guaranteed. When comparing to any 671-1471, you'll have lower parasitic losses, lower temps, better torque curve, ability for higher boost/power levels.

Just to clarify, I was at SEMA, then Key West. I would also like to clarify, I feel AJ is an excellent cart driver and his dounuts are simply remarkable!! :ernaehrung004:

Dustin thanks for all the replys and your time. I have no problems with the new 5.0 and 8.0. When we had first talk you were doing a set for Hammer Time and they never showed up I guess thats why hes running 1075s. This sent me in the direction of PSIs but must agree dont like all the adapting. Then Mark did AJs engines and hes very impressed.I think I need 8.0s because of the larger cu in but the next thing I hear is Bill broke both in Desert Storm, and I was corrected on Jims boat but maybe he will chime in.The feed back I was getting was that he slowed down and wasn't happy.
I have been around this business for 30 yrs and have run blown motors for 20 of them.
Your statment didn't say anything about engine combination only that 5.0 made 200 Hp over a 1471 with less boost. Im not a dumb A** I know every engine combination is differant. Im one of the few people on here that can rig a boat from hull up,build his own drives, engines, transmissions and drive the boat.
16k or 20k is still some coin in my book, like a explained to Eddie I just have a hard time fixing something that is not broke. I have installed meth injection and would like to step up to a new super charger design and EFI. Nothing wrong with good disscussions and replys wish i could have made it to the Keys sounds like everyone had a great time. :drink:

Actually keith, I did not say the 5.0 made 200hp more, I gave an example where our SC's made more power on a particular engine. Case in fact, that motor has a set of quad rotors so I never once stated that it has the 8.3's or 5.0's. The customer had an extra set of quads, I was out of 8.3's and so the motors were built with quads. Again, it was an example of what can happen with twin screw's vs roots.

Also, if you want to step up to EFI, thats going to add another 10k or so with computers, sensors, wiring, fuel injectors, pumps, regulators, hardware, throttle bodies, etc.

So you were corrected on Jim Lee's, then you were informed of the 8.3 issue we had. There is nothing wrong with them, and will continue to be that way.

OK Dustin
1 How much more will the 8.3s make over my 1471s . 605cu in Big M heads solid roller 780 lift. Msd ignition 1150cfm carbs looking for peak power @ 6500 4.610 x 4.500

2 How much faster 40 Skater drysump 1:35 props 16.5x 38 1200hp c&c mercs. Hull rig weight with 100 gals fuel / under 10,000#s and a X height of 3.25"

I wish Bill,Jim,AJ and anyone else who has installed either SC would pipe up with a speed increase.

3 RunningHot posted he would dyno his set up when complete. I would like to see a comparison in real live conditions. Run my hull like its set up make the sc changes and lets see what the increase in rpm and speed is gained. This would equal your Dollar per mph gain.

4 example Spent 12k to dry sump my drives, picked up 6 mph which merc claims the dry sumps are worth 85 hp. If I see even 100 hp gain this should come close to 8mph or 200hp gain should give me 15mph right inline with Skaters #s from the factory. 2k per mph gain.

What ya think
If ya get tired of my questions let me know!!

Whats up Big Daddy,

For me its not about top end, I know the boat will run big #'s with either set up if i stay in it. The key is how long do you want to stretch it out and risk getting hurt. The biggest factor for me is acceleration. I would rather get to a number quickly instead of having to let it eat. I have also gone from a 1.29 to a 1.24

I was sick not to make the run. The video looked and sounded great.
I had heard you were selling your SC set up which has to say alot for your comfort level with the new Whipples.Looks like you also went EFI. Having to increase gear and prop size tells me you have increased HP and torque. I do like acceleration!!! Thanks for the updated information. :drink:

Red State & proud , Yes sir I did make it through the 8th grade.:ernaehrung004:

I also learned by Bills set up that the 8s are differant set up than the 5.0s.
