Hi,
im from Germany so please sorry for my bad english.
I have a Baja 272 with a 2008 496HO, its the late model with the new cover.
All my friends who are using the old style 496HO have the problems with the black transoms, I do not have this problem. So my question is, are there any differences in the ECU on the old style 496HO and the late model ?
I would like to upgrade to the Whipple Stage II upgrade, looking forward to gain 1-2mph on my single engine Baja 272. Anybody here who can tell me some experiences about the Whipple Stage II ? Will the upgrade work on the 2008 496HO as well ?
Is the upgrade on the late model the same upgrade as it is on the old style 496HOs ?
Best regards,
Norman

The Whipple stage II program works well. Should pick up a couple of mph. However, it does require premium fuel. The stage II kit has much more aggressive timing and includes a colder thermostat to help prevent detonation. Available fuel quality is the key. Otherwise the stage 1 program will gain you a little bit and still run 87 octane.

Hi,
thank you for your replies ! Our fuel here in Germany starts at 95 or 98 octane, so this wont be a problem.
I thought that more guys here are using the Whipple Stage II on a stock 496HO ?!
When I could gain 1 or 2 mph topspeed it will be worth the money for me...
@ obnoxus: I dont want to spend that much money this year, even there is much more work to do when installing CMI´s, connect them to my Corsa etc.
Best regards,
Norman
