I have the black 6.2's as well. From several threads I have read on the 292 with blue Scorpion 6.2's you can expect 7-10 mph increase, or say a 8.5 mph average increase. Figuring 20 HP for each mph, that's 170 HP or 85 HP per engine. Not a bad swap at all!
The black 6.2 is rated 320 HP at the crank while the Scorpion is 350 HP at the prop and probably a conservative rating at that, maybe for insurance reasons(?)
I have the full MerCruiser engine manual on the 6.2's and it includes the Scorpion engine. It shows a much better breathing EFI/intake system and full tube headers stock. Not to mention nice internals. They were pricey, but it would be a worth while project if you can find a good used set to freshen-up at a reasonable price.
