I'm paying around $650 for an 89 Formula 272 with 330's through Allstate. I also have my homeowners thru them. I've had them for 2 1/2 years and have unfortunately had 2 claims. They paid fast and in full both times. The service has been great.

I know one thing, beside your driving record. Is how long u have been boating , cause on a app I mistakenly put 8mo instead of 8 years and the rate was a lot higher. Also a boating education
class helps too, I just took the course with the girlfriend,
and boy I actually learned somthing I didnt know.
also if u have noticed your credit affects it too.

Ya what is up with the credit rating having to do with it??? I understand if you are paying over time like monthly or quarterly but if you pay all up front it should have NO bearing on it at all.

well credit rating bull**** is because they have done studies that
conclude people with poor credit are more careless with there
driving habits, bunch of crap I think. just an excuse to charge
more Also in New York, Florida and who knows where else
YOU CAN BE CHARGED MORE FOR INSURANCE IF U HAVE
AN ACCIDENT THATS NOT YOUR FAULT, NOW THATS REAL BULL

To make the premium more affordable ask for a larger deductable. I am a single engine guy but going from $500 to $1000 made a small difference. With a $2500 deductable it cut it in half.

Try Farmers insurance. You will need to insure a house or your cars for them to insure your boat. My 35 Fountain is running 1400.00 a year with a 500.00 deductible.

I use State Farm and have a Donzi 28 with twins- 600 hp. I have $1,000 deductable. My premium is $440 a year. Never had a claim though and would never turn one in for less than $1,000 so the high deductable is ok. The big reason my coverage is so reasonable is use only on inland lakes and waterways.
Have used Boat US in the past and they can be competative as well. Make certain that your coverage is not a depreciated value of your boat or atleast compare coverage differences.

Hey Jayl13

Sounds like your getting ripped off. I have a 2001 Baja with twin 496 MAG's and my insurance is $756/yr. This is in Wisconsin with a limited season.
