Damn. I missed a couple of days of fun... ok, Is there a label on front of transmission that says rotation with arrow on it? What was on the front of the cam, timing chain or gear? A short block is the engine without heads. A long block is engine with rebuilt heads included. Take your heads. Lay them on either side with exhaust and then intake ports up. Fill ports with water. Any come pouring out thru valves? If not, heads are probably good enough to use, but could always use a refresh. Now, boat season is about over anyway. You live in New York? And this boat is on land in New York? Can it spend the winter where it is? I think not rushing to stick something in there cheap-quick is a better way to go. If the boat can't stay the winter, how far is the marina you call home from where it is now?

Derek,
I have to check trans rotation

Chain with gear as always

I need a new freshwater cooling engine. (The second engine is same like this one. They come with cooling tanks with green antifreeze, even transmission uses for cooling)

I know that boat season is over. Yes i leave in NY, Brooklyn. I have reserved winter parking lot in marina close to my house. ( im parked in another marina right now, boat is in water)

Going to find alt engine to fix everything until snow.

How far of a tow to get to your Marina? Do you know anybody else with a boat big enough to tow it there? Can your Marina pull engines and put them in? Another option. Have this Purina pull it out of the water and put it on somebody's truck and haul it to your Marina. Because this place probably isn't going to want to let you leave it sit there tied to their dock for a couple of weeks.

Do you think you could get it there on one engine if you got the second engine started? Cuz that's just chasing down battery cables that got unhooked. Does either engine have a power steering pump on it? And if so which one? By the way, since it has a timing chain, it is a standard rotation motor with a standard rotation camshaft. You don't have to worry about the opposite rotation stuff. If it was an opposite rotation engine, it would have to have a gear drive to keep the camshaft turning in the standard Direction because of the distributor gear and the oil pump still has to turn in the original Direction. So all opposite rotation motors have a Gear Drive instead of a timing chain.

I found this block close to my area. They asking $75 for it.

Camshaft/crankshaft, timing chain or gear is on the place. It spins very easily. They have cylinder heads and pistons too.

I will call in jasper for information tomorrow.

Ok, you need an opposite rotation cam. This IS the opposite rotation engine. Can you get a pic of the timing gears? Are they ok? You can not run any cam you get with a standard rotation engine. And I don't think JB Weld or Crazy Glue on the broken cam will work. Found one on ebay. Not saying you have to buy it, but if I can find one in 5 minutes, it is a good thing. Ebay item number 252814638889 I will post a link in a few, can't do it with this phone. Just put that number in ebay search box.

MY ENGINE IS GARBAGE except cylinder heads, timing gears etc.

Im not going to glue camshaft or something else.

Im telling u that i found a used block with camshaft, crankshaft, flywheel and timing gears or chain (not sure which one because there is cover on it) also they are giving me cylinder headers and pistons without rings.

All this for $75 but i need machine shop and new kit. That's all.
