Thumbs down Funny noise when shifting Bravo into reverse

Shifting to/from forward, it goes "clunk" and that's all. Shifting into reverse gets a "clunk clunk". What is that? How do I fix it? Shifting from reverse to neutral is a normal, "clunk".

No clunks here either. What is your idle rpm set at?

The guage says the idle is between 600 and 700. A clunk can be taken a couple different ways, so let me just say it makes a noise when I put it in forward gear, a normal noise. But when I put it in reverse it makes two noises. Is it something that is affected when the drive is removed and reinstalled?

I hope what your hearing is not the vertical shaft. I remember hearing that double thunk when I shifted into reverse once. The vertical shaft broke at 5000 rpm about 10 minutes later. Might not be related. Id ask one of the drive guys at doller marine. Just a stupid question but make sure the prop is tight. Sometimes the thrush washer gets trashed and the prop can move forward and aft. GGod Luck. Hope its nothing.
