Default Questions about different Bravo's?

I busted my prop shaft and prop housing this weekend on my Eliminator Cat. I have stock bravo's behind my 2000, 500 EFI's.
I am going to have to replace my bravo, lower unit, and have found a 2000-2001 bravo H.P. take off with 14 hours on it. I am aware of the XR's and XZ's but what does the HP mean on the bravo. The guy says he has three takeoffs from a 47 foot fountain that was upgraded with new engines and drives and he says they are Bravo HP????
He wants $2700.00 for one or 5000.00 for two. I would like to upgrade to the XZ or XR's but I don't have $14,000 right now.
Also do all Bravo's have low water pickups or not. I am going to have to install a nose cone to match my other bravo.
Any help appreciated!!!!!!

If you broke just the prop shaft and lower housing, you can by replacement for under $2000.00 call IMCO, Teague or Performance Offshore in Florida. The foot is made two ways; low water pick up or mid pick up. HD has nothing to do with pick up location.

Default At least get aftermarket shafts!

F38- if nothin else, replace your stock 1" shafts with the same size but better alloy- I think the shafts are available for 3-500?

I bet you could get a used XR or XZ lower (They are the same- only the upper gears are different between the two) or even a used Imco lower for the same kind of coin for the stock HP lower. The HP lowers are pretty reliable- for anything but your application.

Try calling Chris at Sterndrive specialists- tell him I sent you, he took good care of me. 315 676 2979 Good luck- and you're still welcome at Beaver if you decide to.
