Any Ideas?? 4 QTS oil sprayed in bay!!

I had and oil line leak on me two years ago. Dumped 12 quarts of oil in bilge
wadda mess. Replaced line , no trouble since , at least with the line that is
In your case ,I might watch the dipstick. A friend of mine had a similar experience and found the dipstick not all the way in and the oil apparently puked out the tube and all over the starboard side of the engine. Heard tell this is not uncommon with Canton oil pans , if that's what ya got.
My buddys was and I have two but no problem yet. Oh boy I probably just jinxed myself

All of the above sounds like good possibilities. I am trying to come up with somethng else. I don't know much about superchargers but since that motor is a fresh rebuild, maybe there was a mistake done, what about the possibilty of blow by in that engine? Wouldn't the supercharger only amplify that problem maybe causing oil to blow out of the front or rear seal when under a load? Maybe a leakdown test would be something to check.

did your oil smell of gasoline, thought maybe looking at this a different way, say if the pressure reg. blew and you were sucking gas through the vacuum line washing out the rings a little, giving some blow by, maybe a little far off but anything is possible.

All good suggestions. I do not remember the oil smelling of gas, but it is possible I guess. I will check that out. I will be doing an extensive check of this engine this weekend. My wife is having her "lady friends" down for a week at the lake, so I will be free to work on the boat uninterrupted! That will be different! It would really be too nice if it was a dipstick not stuck all the way in, but chances are slim. I am pretty sure about seating it each time. I will be doing a leak down & compression check also. I can tell right now, this could turn into a real fun weekend!! Normally, doing this type of thing, the boat would go in the garage & the air conditioner would be on. This I have to do, in/on the water! Rock & roll!! I am waiting for a reverse solenoid for my trailer. I put on Kodiak disc's & cannot back it up without the solenoid. I need another crisis to deal with right now!! Ha!!
Thanks guys for the help. Keep the ideas coming though if something else comes to mind.

Blown formula hey Geo. A friend of mine has a 272 Baja with 502 with procharger. His did the same thing last summer and it was the seal in the dip stick top. It blew out 4 qts oil in about 1 min at 4000 rpms . New dip stick fixed the problem. Hope this helps. Gary

I had a problem with the rear main on the crank. Fresh rebuilds tried the boat out came in changed to syn. oil went back out and bilge full of oil. Ended up oil was passing thru the rear main and rpms (pressure) went up.

I know it is not the rear main, because there is NO oil on the coupler. The dipstick still sounds like a candidate as I had oil, even under the intake shroud on the fuel regulator and injectors....but only on the starboard side where the dipstick is.
I am running pure electric pump & block off plate on the sea pump. there is no oil connection to the seapump/fuel pump anyway.....belt driven....
I'm going to go buy a case of oil tonight just in case!!
It is about 6 miles to the closest ramp to pull the boat if I have too. I figure 24 qts of oil should get me there if needed!! Just kidding, I would run on a single to get there. Play some good tunes, a few boat beverages....and chill for a couple of hours going to the ramp!!
All the time wondering whats wrong......

Even if the dipstick was missing you would not lose that much oil unless you had a clogged breather or very bad rings. Clean the breather, check your plugs, and do a compression check.
One other possibility, does your procharger have a pressurized oil supply to it? Check that line, the drain line, and the seals on the procharger.
