Default Nose Cones worth my time or not?

I am considering putting nose cones on my boat ,28cig w/300sbc's TRS drives runs about 65mph. I have been told that nose cones dont do a dam thing unless your boat goes at least 80. Is this true or could I gain a few mph with them?

I Wouldnt bother at 65 MPH,,, your right,,,80 + is when they are supposed to help,,,,, Might want to throw on external steering at that point to !!!!!!

They won't help you at all.....but.....they look cool!! I had them on a 75mph boat & now on a 80+ boat and I would say I am probably marginal benefit, but then they came with the IMCO drives, so they stay.

yea, not on a TRS. They helped on early Bravo's (88-89-90) over 60 mph.

I put one on a 65 mph boat...did look good. The only performance difference I noticed was better handling. At a slow to medium plane with neutral trim I could cut the wheel hard and turn quickly(to pick up a fallen skier) and the prop didn't blow out , where as it did before. Top speed was little to no difference.
