There is nothing special about Rotella. The levels of anti-wear have been dropped to comply with API mandates.

It is as good as anything else you can get at the local Auto Zone.

Rotella is for trucks I believe. I was advised against using it. I like Valvoline VR1 20w-50 or Kendall GT1 High Perf. 20w-50.

Thanks for all the info guys!! I am going to run the Mobile 1 15w50. My buddy is the manager for advanced audio store he said it is on sale right now and I get 2 free oil filters. Not bad I think 10 quarts is 62 bucks..

I really think it comes down to personal preference. I would minus a few oil they are mostly the same. We change our oil every fall in min so some years it could be 50 hours of use others it could be 200.

Thanks again everyone!! Now it is time to get dirty!!

Have a fantastic weekend!!

RECOMMENDATION:
AMSOIL recommends motor oils containing high levels of
zinc/phosphorus for superior protection. The following tables
list many of the AMSOIL synthetic motor oils that are
formulated with high levels of anti-wear additives:Z-ROD™ 20W-50 Synthetic
Motor Oil (ZRF
Phosphorus
Level (ppm) 1320
Zinc Level (ppm 1440

Vs

Mobil One Mobil 1™ 15W-50 Phosphorus1200 Zinc 1300
Boosted, higher viscosity,
advanced full synthetic formula
designed for performance
vehicles.
HT/HS applications.
Racing and Flat tappet
applications. SN A3/B3

The cost of oil is always less expensive than broken engine parts. Just my .02 cents

And if you want even a better AMSOIL product, use the Dominator Racing 15w50.

I asked an Amsoil Tech about the Dominator Racing oil and his response was

Jay;

I would continue using the 20W50 Z-Rod oil (or ARO) instead of the Dominator Racing oil in the boat.
