endeavour32; No not at all; just tired of some of crap, people come up with. They have no informative; information. But they have to make smart-ass comments towards someone, that helped many people here. That's correct; Bob, figures and grinds all my cams. Never disappointed in 6 yrs.

Oh Jesus

someone got their panties in a bunch.. relax boys it was just a light hearted joke. Guess some of you don`t have a sense of humor, thats gotta make you a real blast to hang out with.
But since we`re on the subject thank goodness Bob is around I have no idea how guys like Richie Zul or Eddie Young ever put together a motor without it being a turd or grenading itself ...

When I was buying my AFR's I stopped by and talked to Valako and at that time he was designing a new Marine head. It was a Dart 308 with the floor filled for better port velocity as well as a lot of porting for better mid flow numbers. However the cost was far more than the AFR's by $1000's, it didn't flow more and it was iron not aluminum. When the head was done it looks very similar to the modified oval of the AFR. Now that he is actually producing them I would be interested in what they are flowing and the final price.
Carry on...

Here is your update, Valako's head was always aluminum. His R&D was with Dart oval and rectangle port heads. His heads were poured off modified 345 sands. His head is a little over 300cc's, flows over 400 cfm @ 0.650". You need to get into a 335 or 357 CNC AFR @ 0.700 to get the same flow. It is nothing like a modified oval AFR.

With a blower I would not use oval due to your reasoning- used oval blower parts are about impossible to find. However if he doesn't care about used then I would still use the 265's. Flow is flow and the 265's flow a lot of air. 600 hp out of a 454 with a mild cam is nothing to discredit, and I seriously doubt there is another head that will do better at the RPM range we run our engines. As I'm sure you will agree it's also more than just a MAX hp number. That means very little and this is where the AFR head shines as it has mid lift numbers that no other head under 325 can touch. I've owned these heads and I've never felt an N/A engine as responsive as the engine that I built with these heads. I see no reason why this head would do poorly with a blower, the only downside is available used parts.

Good to see the specs on Valakos head. When I was talking to him about heads for my build he suggested his custom Darts, maybe they were Pro 1's, it was a while ago. Either way there was a lot of work that he recommended to have done and at the time I didn't feel it was money well spent on what I was doing. At that time these heads didn't exist.
What are the three heads in the picture?

I was told once by an engine builder that when it comes to forced induction, runner size is less important. The same small high velocity runner that helps aid in low speed airflow (throttle response down low), can also hinder power at upper rpm when being force fed by a blower. The port itself becomes a restriction.
In a maximum effort scenario, you'll find guys running 340+cc runners on 450 inch engines in blown applications . On the street, the smaller runner helps in part throttle and out of boost situations for response and economy. I'd be willing to bet a case of beer, that if you took a blown 454, one with 325 pro 1's, and the other with 270 pro 1's, with a roots or whipple blower, the 325's will outperform the small ovals pretty much throughout the rpm band at wot.
I can tell you in one of my supercharger books, they swapped a gm oval port head, for a gm rect port head on a blown engine. The engine picked up around 60hp at 6000 with no other changes

1st Oval port dart
2nd Jims cast head
3rd Dart 345
