I'm just saying that if you're going to remove the choke plate or disable it then you might as well cut the entire choke horn off. It's easy to do with a dremel and cut-off wheel. Performance gain will be negligible but it cleans things up.

thanks guys, I bought a 502 and the guy removed the choke, was just checking that its ok, i dont mind finessing it a bit to start

I've worked on alot of boats that didnt run because the choke was stuck,easy money,and makes the customer think I know what im doing

I have always used chokes. I can put the throttle to wide open which sets the choke, bump the key and drive away. Comes in handy when leaving in the middle of the night or early morning. You dont have to wake the whole harbor or anchorage waiting for it to warm up.
