This has always had me SMH. I've been running my 502 w/VST in Texas heat (105* air, 90* water) for 13 years and it's never once vapor locked. The 272 only has little vents under the swim deck valance for the engine room.
Yet, Guys up North in "cool" air and COLD water having issues with it. Makes no sense to me.

I'm guessing the ethanol thing. Nothing had been done to the motors.

CP Performance has a coupler that goes right in to your fill line. make a cut, slip in and add two hose clamps,, It has a single bung to run your return line too. If you have twins like I do.. I took to a local weld shop,, the guy drilled and added another bung its S/S so he has to be able to weld stainless. Charges me $25.00 That was the easy part...

When I had my stock 502 mags in the boat it was always the starboard engine that would cause me fits, now with the new 540's its the same engine both running cool fuel, So Im going to replumb the whole thing with -8 pushlock and AN fittings EFI regulators and Aeromotive pumps, My tank has 3 bungs so doing the return will be easy just Y the two bypass outlets from the regulators together then to the tank.

I work with SS all day, every day, so it will be a gov't job. Rather be able to run the return lines to the tank since the sender/access to tank is 1-2 ft from the water separators. The fill hose is a good 12' or so, plus dealing with running the hoses. I wonder if I can tee both the return lines right there at the motors and just run a single hose to the fill hose tee?

Guys I'll admit that I'm not the most mechanical. I have a stock 454 7.4 mpi (2000). Do you have a picture of where this return line goes?? I may have interest in a little proactive action!
thanks

Took off the hoses from the fuel filter, capped the filter head and put them together using a T (couldn't find a Y, but used middle and side IN) and ran the single hose to my 3rd bung. Called Eddie Young a cpl times just to make sure I would be OK and ran 20 hrs this summer and no issues!!

Talking to Engine Guru's out there, its only gong to get worse with the adding of ethanol.. I've been studding this sh-t for a couple years now.. The more they add the lower the boiling point drops. That's why some who used to not have issue are now having problems like me.. We cant get real gas around Norris Lake TN.. all 10% + blend.
Merc has a TSB on it and their fix is the inline booster pump.
