Having a ball bypass and bypassing oil directly back into the sump(not via the pickup tube like melling/OE) has many benefits regarding lubrication.
Borgie, Does the Schumann pump with the external bypass direct the bypassed oil below the oil level or just piss it out into the crankcase?

The Schumann pump returns the oil into the sump via a diffuser, so it's not "pissing" oil back into the crankcase at all. It's a very popular pump in many forms of Motorsport. If you look into its engineering, you would be quite impressed.

I always hear "the bbc doesn't have oiling issues". IMO that's completely false. If you go into bypass, the oil is being redirected out of the pickup tube. So you have loss of volume to all vital clearances period. I won't even go into the poor quality of other pumps out there. Vern, the owner, is an engineer and has perfected the original spur pump for the SBC and BBC engines.

I would suggest calling Schumann for any of your oil pump needs and questions. They improve upon stock oil systems and have some of their own designs. Sounds like Borgie has done huge amounts of homework about them and I will confirm that I have used them as well plus directed some tech questions for them as they have been very helpful plus buying their recommended pumps for the app. They are doing a lot of new stuff to improve oiling for the LS series of engine as well. FYI. I highly recommend them.
