Default efi vr carb

We took our baja with a new 540 to be tunned
The shop is telling us to dump the efi and put on a carb. they feel one side of the moter is running rough and tell us a carb will take care of it. The shop sayes they can go ahead with the efi but it will cost alot more. I feel like im taking a step backward Does any one have any imput.

what EFI system ? if you are trying to get a factory merc unit to work with a 540 going to get $$$$$$$$ aftermarket EFI will be much better, but cost wise the carb is going to be much cheaper..

The systems from FAST aren't terribly expensive. Seems like about 4k would do a 540.

...unless I overlooked something?

depends on what you can spend...can get a nice carb/intake for a grand or so....so 4k for EFI...3k can by a lot of fuel

The fuel system that the owner or owner's repair shop can tune correctly is the right choice.

If you can't tune what you have, either learn or switch.

Obviously, you can switch shop's too.

Find someone that can actually tune what you have, or run your current efi setup, intake, throttle body, injectors, rails, sensors, ect, with either the Fast or Holley self tune ECM and harness.
