Hey Black, I appreciate the generosity. I found the one that I was using before, and I think it is essentially the same - 6-valve pump with big ins and outs. Now I just need to find a bigger tank pickup. Still want to run the damned thing one more time and watch the fuel pressure to make sure that is in fact my issue. While I was fooling around with it I pulled the carb and upped the jet sizes from 76/86 to 78/89.

Dropping a hose in a 5 gallon jug is definitely the quickest way to find out if restriction is the problem.

Yep, but if the lines are the big restriction, it probably wouldn't matter how big of a pump I run or how many, it can only flow so much. Maybe I should just take BUP's suggestion and drop a 1/2 inch rubber line into a spare gas can with the mechanical pump.

I really feel like I need to run this thing on the water one more time and watch the fuel pressure. If I could get away with it I would shut the phone lines off and duck out of the office. Sunny and 68* outside my window, and I can't do anything about it!

Oh well, could be worse - I could be unemployed and selling the boat.

Thanks for giving my thread all this attention and good advice, guys. We'll get this thing figured out eventually. In the meantime, I have plenty of stuff to keep me busy, but I'm still all ears for good information and suggestions.
Found the specs on that pump after digging all over.

50GPH flow at 6psi?

http://fme

That research put some light on the whole conversation...

50 gph @ 6psi is not even a theorectical minimum.. and with 3/8 line's

http://forum.grumpysperformance.com/viewtopic.php?f=55&t=1939

Assume a BSFC of 0.55 and gasoline at 6.25 lbs/gallon: BFSC Brake Specific Fuel Consumption

horse power x 0.55 = pounds of fuel burned per hour

example

600hp x .55=330lbs
330lb /6.25lbs per gallon=52.8 gallons an hour minimum fuel used.....keep in mind pumping loss thru the lines , inertial loads and heat can easily reduce actual flow rates by more than 50% so if you require 50gph your unlikely to meet demand with less than a 100-120 gph pump even with the correct line sizes
