8' beam into 7'9" garage door
Does anyone have any clever ideas as to how I can get mt 8' beam boat into/through my 7'9" wide garage door? Plenty of room once it's through the door but??? Tilt on side maybe? Anyone ever done this?

Wider door opening or trim 2 inches off each side of boat.
|
Don't think you have a whole lot of options Nugget.
|
Is this a measured 8ft from widest point of each side of boat on trailer or are you going off specs?
|
1) Pointy end first.
2) Speed* *If at first you don't succeed; add more speed. |
Install larger door, you will be happy once you do
|
Now you know why I put 8x9 doors in my garage when I built it.

A friend of mine cut a chunk of trim out to clear. He did it in a way that the trim goes right back on after the boat's in/out. Dowels or something.

1. Try greasing the door frame.
2. Heat door frame to expand it, put boat in freezer to shrink it. Quickly put boat in. |
Thanks to all so far...some very good observations and solid ideas, real solid... I was thinking I could put it in stern first. using a motor lift I could lift the stern and possibly tilt the boat enough to get it through. no motor on it right now and it weighs about 1700 dry. The trailer is no where near as wide. The 8' is an actual measurement and I need to find 3 inches. I figured someone on here must have had a similar issue. I need to get it in to work on through the winter and then haul it out in the Spring. Don't tell me I have the best idea so far as to how to do it...that's not good for me and doesn't say much about all of you out there who I know are always being thrown "how the heck are we going to do that" problems all the time! That's boating ! so really...try a little harder and help me get this in my garage! Thank you...peace my friends! If we can make 18 foot boats go over 100mph and put twin 250's on a 20' boat, this should be a piece of cake. Try harder!!!
