Hi!
Got a new powerhead on my Promax 300 1999 model. Paid by MarinePower. Thanks to them.
What is the correct break in? According to HiPerf the Promax 300 break in should be:
1 hour: 2500-3500 rpms. Vary trottle every 2nd mins
2 hour: 3500-4500 rpms. Vary trottle every 2nd mins
3-10 hours: 2500-5000 rpms. Vary trottle. No wot reccommended, can be done for less than 5 mins now an then
First 50 gals of gas, use 5:1 Premium Plus Oil extra direct into gas tank. Use Premium Plus Oil during break in.
Some say no wot runs during break in, no extra oil and negative trim. Or do as the book tells you. I have done the last, and only 3 wot runs of less than 1 mins each after 4th hour of break in. Still vary rpms, and 1 hour left of break in.
Any comments?
Cheers and all the best, Toffen

Hey Toffen,
I blew a 300 promax at 13 hours (oil injection was too lean)
When I got the new powerhead I ran a 20 to 1 oil mix in the fuel as well as the oil injection for the first 10 hours, varied the revs heaps, kept it under 4000 for 10 hours too, I put 100 to 1 in the fuel for the rest of the time I had the boat & no dramas !!,
Check the seal on the shift linkage and the waterpump too, these have been known to fail & fill the gearcase with water.
Definitely post pics of norwegian gals too !!!
Cheers,
Dave.
