I've never had a new blower, they've all been used. I'm always worried my blower has always sat on top of much bigger engines where it really got put to good use. Sometimes if your blower thinks you might be thinking of a new blower its boost levels seem to improve for a while before it stops working completely.

I'd be afraid a roots blower wouldn't work at all. Asian blowers seem to work well.

After a cursory review of my blower's road performance, it seems that the real issue is a concern of "over-fueling" at WOT, (wide open throat) and a subsequent choking issue developing as a result...

Did the builder of the top end use new or newer head components? The 30 year old head components may be worn out even if they pass inspection. That alone will will decrease the blowers output....

Also might contribute to the chocking issue and smoke a a little when cold out

These "head" components are 53 yrs old, and in amazingly good shape! The floatation devices are in very good shape as well, but they have had a little help from a specialist...

Really comes down to this. Gotta make sure the atmosphere is right. Get your timing right. Try to keep your retard to a minimum for as long as you can. Maybe even a little advance (shoes). Then ease into it during the break-in. If you get into the blower too deep, might have some reversion.

Why wont the original BELT mine came with fit any more . Seems to be at least 5 sizes too small ! Can the belt shrink , or are the pulleys getting bigger ????

My blower still perform good after 32 years of service just takes a little longer to get full boost. But I'm happy with that.
