Here they say the intake valves are made in India . And yet another builder who says guides are too tight . there's gonna be some more guide measurements coming in soon from a few different oso guys
http://www.performanceboats.com/gn7-...s/98154?page=1 SC and GN7 are/where (GN7 passed away this year) loud/crude/ their way is the only way guys. Take what they ever say with a small grain of salt. There are only 3 people I totally don't like- dare I say dispise - on the boards, and they are 2 of them. My opinion with a ton of fact built in to that opinion.. |

Sounds like you need to run them harder.
*Correction* I was out at my shop tonight and spoke with my head assembler. He said that he does use valve seals now on the exhaust side, but he removes the retaining ring from the seal. To many customers didn't like the puff of smoke at start up after few days layup. And he runs intake valves at 0.0018" and exhaust at 0.002" clearance. He said anything at or below 0.0015" or below is a little to tight for his liking. |
GN7 was one of the sharpest guys around, we used to discuss my builds and the guy knew his stuff. If you were looking for sugar coating he wasn`t your man. SC puts up tons of good info over there.
Why they ban you from that site SB? |

Why they ban you from that site SB? Why are they banned from here and BF's ? Members here and there spoke the truth about them. Anyhow - I do not think it's worthy enough to go on and on about them , Those days are over. We all learned to pretty much stay away from each other. Okay ? |

btw I sincerely hope that everything works out well for you. Only asking because a set of afr heads may be in my future. |

Only need to run them just hard enough! Never want to run it till it's tongue hangs out! I haven't run valve seals in 15 years Intake or Exhaust, guides are both at .002, Manley Valves, Now I'm overdue for routine head maintenance so this could be the year I have catastrophic failure. |
So.... Now you guys have me wondering about my AFR 265's. They were installed out of the box. Engine was flogged pretty good on the dyno - even ran it with a steady-state test at 4500 RPM for 5+ minutes. We discovered an issue with it being a little lean at that point so I think those valves had to get pretty hot at that time. It has since had about 15 hours on it, only been full throttle once. Am I out of the woods for valve clearance problems at this point? I would think if there were issues it would have reared its head by now. :helmet:
