People have no freakin idea how bad the screw ups are - more so from aftermarket, but still some from OE.

Doing re-repairs on your own time suks enough, try when it's shop time and that means other vehicles get put on hold and your employees are gonna make extra OT.

And then explain to your family why you don't come home until they are in bed and you lost $$$ at the same time.

Rant over - kind of - but everyone would be in for a rude awakening if they replaced parts everyday !

Edit in: don't forget my story the other day of a new GM longblock where one cylinder head did not have holes for the spark plugs. Solid cast iron there. F Me !
sb,i am willing to bet that facked up ps hose came from china or mexaco.it seems that more and more parts are no longer made by craftsmen in america but non skilled children from a foreign land.the person who gets stung from junk parts is the poor mechanic who is making the repairs.

You do that to quantify that you have received what you were suppose to.

Same reason it's a good idea to have a qualified individual take apart and quantify brand new, out of the box, cylinder heads.

It does not surprise me in the least that these assembly line produced QFT carbs need looked at.
when the custom carb shop guy tells you that your quickfuel 850 has a 830 body all i can say is,RUN FORREST RUN.

In my case, I'm the owner and my people are hourly. I had two who wanted to be flat rate - I was all over that ! - and then they asked to become hourly for the reasons of suck parts and Parts places (including many dealerships) in my area have button pushers.........Amt of wrong parts I get is staggering.

Warranty is almost non existent and they point the fingers at you because they have no understanding of repairs and that 'how can someone make so many faulty parts ?"

Tough I tell you.

Well, I'm done. Over 7hr into a 1.3hr paying job.

This reminds me, looks like my shop rate is going up ! I can only take it in the azz so much.

Just that the rather obvious point that carburetors need fine tuned once in actual use was made on page three.

Carry on.

And for the record....once the "issues" were corrected on the "bad" QFT....these are a VERY TUNABLE carb! We are pulling at 2000...adjust for proper AFR, 2500, 3000 etc as we had a "flat spot" and got that curve straightened out.....Idle is clean, snaps right off idle...im Happy
