Batteries

Looking at battery replacement this year, what is everyone using? I had the Die Hard Platinum but they are no longer making them.

I picked up a couple from West Marine. I've used them in my Thunder and never had an issue. If you can catch a sale, they weren't too costly either. I've always wondered what is the best option too

There was a thread a while ago with a guy that was going to get those real small/ light lithium ion or whatever they are batteries. I don't think he ever posted how that worked out.

I know this may not be the best solution -- I go to Farm and Fleet and just buy the least expensive battery that will fit with the correct AMP's and Cranking Power -- then every other year swap them out.

I've tried the real expensive units in the past and to honest I never had real good luck with them -- it seems after a year or two they all peter out!

just my 2 cents

I run Odyssey's as I'm restricted by the size of my custom battery boxes. Otherwise I'd be running Interstate.

I wonder why people have so many problems with batteries? Switching them every year or every other year seems crazy to me.

The battery in my truck I bought in Oct 2005 and still starts the truck no problem even when it was 10 below this winter. Its an Energizer.

The batteries in my 206 formula were used when I bought it in 2010 and show no issues. I just tried cranking the motor with each and the motor spun fast, batteries have been sitting out in the cold all winter. I can't remember what brand those are.

I did this last years with a couple boats. Upgraded the race boat bat's and then the old ones go in the next boat and so on and so on. The oldest battery (6 years) out of 8 swapped around that was still 100% was a Kirkland brand from Costco.

Odyssey made the Die Hard Platinum that was discontinued. Just got two for my F250. Check their website.

The last couple sets I have bought were exide nautilus that I got from Menard's of all places. They had the best price that I could find on anything name brand.

Most problems with boat batteries is the owner.

Some people can knock over a barn by looking at it.
