Before we get too excited, anyone see my post earlier, about the throttle cable issue on the same dyno? That would certainly have an effect on tims dyno number if in fact, thats what was happening, but not in the boat. Throttle controls when using a servo, can fuk up. I like when some shops mount a camera above the throttle plates during a dyno pull, where you can see creep back.
A more common cause for both the low measured air flow and vacuum would be that the carburetor was not mechanically at WOT during the pull. Sometimes it is hard to get good carburetor travel with the available leverage and linkage. Older dyno's with the water piston used to creep all the time and loose the WOT during a test session, even the newer ones with servo or cable linkages can creep or loose the WOT capability. didn't he say he was getting really low AFR numbers or something?? If the throttle was open all the way in the boat he's drawing more CFM and the carb is drawing more fuel (rich). |

330's
They had different X's based on engine packages and props that the boat was build with. Just a thought. |

I would think it would cause issues in the boat because if it was dyno'd and tuned at part throttle the tune in the boat (WOT) would be off.

Here you go, just pout a couple gallons of this in the tank next fillup....

ff you get the engine pulled yet?

Full farce hates me and has said to have now blocked me, but I think my pizzing him off in another thread led to this one.
I hope he finds what he is after, be it reliability, speed or both. |
I think 6" its the same as my buddys that came with 420's, we checked that 5 years ago...

had wideband before and after dyno, WOT was checked on dyno in my case.. things change from dyno to boat, no matter what..

Think that got resolved in regards to engines in the boat anyway. Port side was off and running lower AFR's and rpm at wot. He had since installed wideband on both engines and got jetting squared away and same rpm's at wot. Why Tim didn't look down to confirm throttle plates were 100% open while at 6k on dyno is beyond me. Lol. Joke joke. Think we covered that also. SB woulda done it.

yes, tonight...trans dropped off...
I plan to compression test and pull valve covers tomorrow and look at things...

I'm over it, just sick of some of the BS, this thread was to get SOLID INFO... that's all still didn't get it really, guess a valve cover check will tell me tomorrow...

lots of things to ck over without out question but given both engines nearly identacle I still say intake manifolds assuming cams degreed correctly but it sounds like you confirmed that. Not enough spring pressures and or lifter failure woulda showed up on dyno. What springs are you using? Johnson lifters correct?
|
Not sure the spring, would have to see on paperwork, I think PAC, cams degreed yes..
Johnson lifters also.

As getrdun said, needs intakes and carbs to make more power but unfortunately it sounds like they will not fit under the engine hatches. Also nothing wrong with Bob M cams.

We used a dominator intake with a 4150 carb.
We cut an inch off the brodix HVH 2002 manifold and drilled and tapped it for a 4150. It had a "cast in place" spacer, so to speak, so we had plenty of material to work with. I also have hatch clearance issues. http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/b...psmixtt27l.jpg |
What would Zul do for induction? I'm seeing scoops under the Christmas tree this year. :santa:

How much power you think he will gain from just an intake swap?
|
Pro comp intakes and Quickfuel 1050's (4150) body

What procomp intake is it? I thought they were a high rise dual plane intake from memory.

How it was on Dyno, and I will add it was very cool of joe to drive over 2 hours to hang out and help all weekend don't find that too often anymore, but he just googles and rips people.. Lol. I wish all these guys making big numbers dynoed in marine trim for real numbers...
|
I could barely walk that weekend with my dam disc issue with my back, i mostly sat around playing quarterback .
It would have been cool to have more time and try a bunch of things. I certainly dont think there was a magic trick to finding 70hp, and an additional 500rpm of powerband by installing some spacers (thst you cant fit), or a bigger carb (that you cant fit). This combo was supppsed to make 700hp at 6000rpm with what you had. It simply wasnt happening. At least dynoed with wet marine exhaust and accessories. I know some dynos you could bring it to though, where it can make 700hp with no other changes if you want a better looking piece of paper. |
|
1 does no good, and 800 is a heck of a claim N/A without spinning it to the moon, a Dyno sheet would be sweet to Doo for them claims.. 750 ish would be my claim especially without a sheet.
